How To Do Laundry

Fabric and laundry soap have come a long way since I was taught how to wash and dry clothes which makes separating colors not quite as important anymore. Mediums/colors can be mixed in with darks now unless you have a new pair of jeans or something really dark that might bleed into other clothes. Wash those by themselves in cold water the first couple times. Always keep the whites together.

Anything that might shrink should be washed in cold.

Colors/mediums that won't shrink can be washed in warm and rinsed in cold or warm.

All-white whites, should be washed in hot. Add chlorine bleach to the water (a couple glug-glugs as my mom said to me and I said to your mommy and aunties) or add it into the corner of the machine where it says to. ONLY use it on all-white clothes because bleach will ruin colors.

There is non-chlorine bleach that will brighten clothes that can't be bleached.

Washing machines have a lot of different settings and combinations of temperatures and speeds and extra rinses that I haven't talked about. The best one is "hand wash" which is for very delicate things because then you don't ACTUALLY have to hand wash it.

After it is washed, it needs to be dried. We usually use a machine called a dryer (very original) but we also could pin them to a rope outside. When you do that, your laundry smells like sunshine. Sheets from the clothesline are especially nice.
